This book is basically about complex and conflicting thoughts about her parents and her childhood & story about a young girl who loves her family, though her father was an alcoholic and her mother had a selfish behaviour but she still loves her parents. She remembers her father as an intelligent man and her mother as a spirited artist. This book is a beautifully written emotional read full of dark and happy times.

This is a hard but necessary book to read. The author of this book has written four novels and this was his last book. He has also written the all-time best The Great Gatsby. It was written at the dark time of his life because his father had recently died and his wife had been committed to a psychiatric institution in Switzerland. In writing this novel he liberally used material from his life. His relationship with Zelda (his wife) their life together in France. Though he was indulged in alcoholism but, it hasn't affected the beauty of this book.
